Nose Cone Pin-up Art for Monday June 21, 2010

I’ve been doing some research on World War II nose cone art recently and have decided to share some of the images I found. Many service personnel painted their aircraft with bright and sometimes gaudy images. These pictures are often both historically and visually inspiring and a treat to see. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Today’s image is the B-24M #44-41876 nicknamed the “Lucky Strike.” The aircraft was assigned to the 530th Bomb Squadron and 380th Bomb Group.

Yes I just looked up Lucky Strike and found this. I have what appears to be a B2 jacket with a lucky strike motif on the back , would you like to see it?
